Bago sinimulan ni Professor Alonto ang pagsulat ng Sultan Kudarat, nanaliksik muna siya tungkol sa buhay ng kanunu-nunuan niyang ito. Magkatulong sila ng kanyang maybahay na si Alona sa research work.
Kinunsulta rin nila ang SALSILAH, a narrative genealogical history of the ruling elites in Muslim Mindanao. Ang Salsilah ay sagrado at hindi ito isang bukas na dokumento na kahit sino ay maaaring basahin. Ang mga ruling class lamang ang puwedeng bumuklat nito.
Si Professor Alonto ay kabilang sa angkan ng mga elitistang pulitiko sa Lanao. Ang kanyang Lolo, ang yumaong Senador ‘Suritan-sa-Ramain’Alauya Alonto I, ang kauna-unahang Muslim na nahalal na senador sa Pilipinas at nagmula sa lahi ng Butuanon Kalihan na nakatuklas sa Lanao noong middle era ng Pre-Islamic Madjapahit empire. Ang gobernador na si Prinsesa Tarhata Alonto Lucman, ay tiyahin niya, kung saan ito rin ang kauna-unahang babaing gobernador sa ating bansa at maybahay ng nasirang Congressman Rashid Lucman.
Bagamat pinangahasan lamang sulatin ni Prof. Alonto sa pormang komiks ang kasaysayan ni Sultan Kudarat, hindi maitatanggi na may naging bahagi siya sa komiks at ito nga ay ang maging obra niyang ito.

I would vote for Professor Alonto, if he is a professor then he is most likely to have studied a PHD degree, doesnt that make him a doctor. I believe so. He would be the only one to put the balance between Filipino Islamic Issue and perhaps fix terrorism that Islamic Filipino who lives below the poverty line are getting involved into. If they attain proper education and get themselves into work skills and life skills, then I dont believe theyd choose a life of Crime.
