Sergio “Serge Osmeña III is a former Senator of the Republic of the Philippines. He earned the respect of many citizens for his exposes on graft and corruption, most of which were anomalous government projects.

Sergio “Serge” Osmeña III served as Secretary General of the Progressive Party cluster NUCD-UMDP from 1991–1992. When it merged with Lakas Tao in 1992, he served as the member of the National Directorate.

In 1992, Sergio “Serge” Osmeña III ran for Congressman in Cebu’s Sixth District but lost.

In 1995, Sergio “Serge” Osmeña III was invited by President Fidel Ramos to join in the senatorial race under the Lakas-Laban ticket. He won in the elections and served his term as senator from 1995-2001. During that term he was asked to look for a new site of the Senate after the old Executive Building will be renovated for the National Museum. The Senate offices and session hall were transferred to the GSIS Building at the Financial Center in Pasay City.

In 1997, Sergio “Serge” Osmeña III bolted Lakas NUCD to be an independent senator. In 1998, he joined the Liberal Party. In the 1998 elections, He ran for the position of Vice President as a running mate of Manila mayor Alfredo Lim. He lost however, to Senator Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

In 2001, Sergio “Serge” Osmeña III was one of the senators who voted in favor of opening the second bank envelope for the impeachment case filed against Joseph Estrada. The motion was outnumbered, and it led to the second EDSA People Power Revolution. He ran as independent for the position of Senator under the People Power Coalition. He won in the elections and served his second term as senator from 2001-2007. Right after Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. was replaced by Senator Franklin Drilon as Senate President, he joined Pimentel’s party PDP-Laban.

    (Jun Tadios)

Juan Ponce Enrile at Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.

  11. DJSURGIO says:

    to Joey:

only 1 of your 3 statements are correct - that there are a lot to choose from. and serge osmena is one of the best choices among all of them.

his stint is impressive - he was declared most outstanding freshman senator in 1995 for many exposes he worked tirelessly on to battle graft and corruption. for you, maybe impressive is being on the news a lot and making a lot of controversial statements, but serge is not a flashy guy. he is a modest, simple, hardoworking man who does his country a great deal of service by giving 100% of himself when drafting bills. look up the number and quality of bills he has passed in senate and prepare to be amazed.

credentials - he went to la salle, ateneo, england, harvard, and georgetown for his studies. he didnt get to finish abroad because he had to return home and help run the family business because his mother became to weak to do so.

he was practically a fugitive during the martial law era - he escaped from jail after being wrongly imprisoned purely on the basis of being a relative of a political enemy. after he moved to the states he became a member of several anti-marcos movements that lobbied in the US congress to denounce support for the marcos administration.

i could go on and on about what he’s done but elections would be over by then. just do your research and vote wisely, ok?

  12. madapakasana says:

yes i will vote for osmeña!
