About Ramon Guico

“Naniniwala ako sa serbisyong mabilis at diretso sa tao.”

Ramon Naval Guico is the President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines and the Mayor of the town of Binalonan in Pangasinan. He recently launched the launched the Ginhawa Mo, Gets (Gamot, Edukasyon, Trabaho, Serbisyo) Ko Agad Campaign which aims to strengthen the local government and provide faster and improved services to the people. He is running for Senator in the 2010 elections.
He is the 3rd child of Ramon and Vicenta, of Pangasinan, and Isabela. A born entrepreneur, Ramon at age 5 and all throughout his elementary and high school was already helping her mother, “Aling Quita” in their store. Notwithstanding this, he was a known student leader and was the President of his high school student council.
Ramon went to Baguio City for college and took up engineering at the University of Baguio. One time, his father asked him to acompany him to the nearby town of Sto. Tomas to become a judge at a beauty contest. There, he met his future wife, Arlyn, a pharmacist.

Career

In the early 1970’s and while newly married, Ramon started with poultry and hog-raising business. During those days, Ramon would wake up in the middle of the night to tend to his business. He then diversified his business into gravel and sand by buying junk Pantranco buses to be used for transport of sand and gravel. This earned him the moniker, “Magbubulok” or Junk Man by his relatives and friends. After some time, Ramon then ventured into the construction business where he built dams and farm-to-market roads. In 1985, Ramon then entered the business of healthcare and education, which by then was the largest business venture e undertook. During those times, Ramona and his wife the couple could not have a good night’s sleep thinking about how they are going to pay off their debts, but due to their constant hard work and faith, their hospital and education business once again flourished.

Politics

In 1987, Ramon Guico was appointed by President Aquino as mayor of Binalonan, Pangasinan. Binalonan was a 5th class municipality when Ramon started office. While at office, Mayor Guico worked hand in hand with the local people, bringing the Binalonan municipality to a 1st class municipality, with its own university contributing to affordable college education not only within the city but also to surrounding cities.

League of Municipalities of the Philippines

Ramon Guico also had the privilege to serve not only Binalonan but also the whole country as the President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines. Early on, Ramon worked to change the image of the LMP long marred by wrong impression that it was nothing but a bastion of traditional local politicians into to become a research-based, result-oriented and primary champions to the interests and development agenda of its member-municipalities and their constituencies.

    @Kojak and the others

It is unnecessary to put up a fight in a place like this.

  5. Henry says:

Inulit mo la’ng sinabi mo Kojak e. You’re just wasting time. Sa iba mo ka na la’ng tumahol, wag na dito.

  6. kikay says:

Mahirap mag-assume kapag wala kang ibedensiya.

  8. Cess says:

  9. monique menorca says:

  10. Henry says:

Well said @Cess and monique menorca.

Dito sa Pinas, Freedom of Expression Sucks. Hipocrites.

  12. kikay says:

@ Henry “_AGENYST_______”ther prynce to the pope they dyd so barke. This word has nothing to do with critical to one’s opinion and could be found only on English Poetry. Duh.

  13. Monico says:

Some of you bloggers are acting like idiots and morons. Maintain proper decorom. Observe decency when emitting foul languages. Ramon Guico GETS Ko. You are No. 1 on my list.

  14. Kikay says:

    MONICO

There is Hipocracy on your tone and you are disgusting. You are implying that anybody who support Guico are welcome on this web page and those who are opposing are idiots and morons. Where is the balance of opinion? You dumbhead.

  15. lizzie says:

    No hard feelings ha?
    Actually i don’t know him….
tama naman na ipagtanggol nyo yung tao..because you know him.. but you know we are in a democratic country… kahit ayaw natin na makarinig ng masama eh wala tayong magagawa.. nasa cobstitution naman na we have the right
to express our feelings whether positive
or negative.. It’s not harmless especially to the candidates… This page is for everyone right? We must respect the opinions of others if we want to be respected too..you know
we cannot please everybody.. that’s life…
if you don’t want to hear anything bad.. make your own page…
Just want to say na hindi ako kampi sa mga nagibbigay ng negative comments but
kasama kasi yan eh..just let the people
    react…
    peace men!!

  16. Kikay says:

Thanks Lizzie for agreeing with my observation. If there is no opposing opinion against the candidate, then this web page will not serve its purpose and it will be self serving for Guico.

  17. Henry says:

    Kikay,

I was implying the word “ageynst” as a word in Filipino. I just want to ridicule everyone here as little as saying “ageynst”. Do not take it seriously. Just for you information and salvation from madness, meh lady.

I understand what lizzie and you said, there should be balance in everything. I believe that. And I also reckon that everyone is open to be an opposition or an ally.

But I also take sides on Monico’s, that everyone should, as much as possible, do act decently in a “freedom of speech”.

Well, where is your evidence that will show Guico as a tax hoarder?

    @kulot
It looks like you also join the bandwagon with your The-Terminator-mighty statement. Why not conform and make a change?

  18. Kikay says:

    @Henry

AHA!!! You are now talking about tax hoarding and demanding for evidence. You know for sure, I assume, that this is not the proper forum to discuss the issue and we are not in a position to disseminate information. You are aware that Guico is close to the First Family and anybody associated with the latter will be part of a massive investigation to be conducted by the new administration.

  19. lizzie says:

    naman!!!!
    grabe na ito ha?
    let the people react…..
    please lang…
understand henry too.. but i already
told you…It’s part of the election
period na magbigay ng bad comments…
    isa ito sa mga basis…
lahat ng ito whether positive or
    negative..ay kailangan..
    please lang…
Much better if you popst some positive things and let the others do their business..
    ok? kakahigh blood!

  20. Henry says:

    @Kikay

Hmm, I wonder? If this ain’t the right place for conspiracy spewing… Then why, in high-blood’s name, is it that your first assertion about Guico being a business tax hoarder is up there? Bato-bato sa langit, tamaan ay talagang mag-cocontradict.

  21. Henry says:

I just have to get this off my mind:

I really hate, when someone goes berserk in a comments’ board and start disgorging trash about rules and legality. It is just as cheap as being a big-headed and nasty gangsta children’s party.

People sometimes take the internet too seriously. They just gotta feel the breeze outside.

As we were, I always respect people’s bad, good and neutral comments in any internet boards. But I HAVE ALWAYS SAID, please arrange your temper. Act decently and put up a polite yet strong arguments. I know those who opposed are strong-minded, but please… Can you keep the volume a little low?

  22. Kikay says:

    @ Henry

Sabi nga ni Kulot na ang kultura nang politika, Philippine setting, is always associated with corruption. Nobody is contradicting somebody’s opinion and I stand with my logical assessment. Typical politician, deny deny deny deny…..prove it.

  23. Kikay says:

    @ Henry

You sound like I am getting into your nerve. If you can not stand the heat then I’ll be the one to quit. Nice blogging with you. No offense.

  24. Kikay says:

somebody is moderating this page and I got spanked. I’m butting out myself into the horizon. Last parting word… Vote NO for Guico, YES for Meriam Defensor.

  25. Kikay says:

    @ Henry

Good rhetoric but not great. I heard this thing somewhere before.

  26. Henry says:

    Kikay,

I was referring to your contradictions where you seemingly claim that Guico’s businesses amass taxes and yet you said that this is ain’t the proper place to discuss negativities like this.

  27. Henry says:

    Kikay,

No, you ain’t getting into any of my cords. As a matter of fact, you amuse me with all of your antagonistic comments. That is why I always have the interests to post here. Bravo, bravo!

  28. Henry says:

    Kikay,

Well, if that is your decision to leave me here in vain then go. Use your striking judgment somewhere else. You’ll probably benefit on it.

But believe me, I am calm as a tree standing on a lonely plateau.

    “And I need you…
    And I miss you…
    And now, I wonder?”

  29. monique menorca says:

hmmm is this still about politicians? or about love developing in the air, it seems like you two could really make a great couple, to everybody here. Share your opinions let your voices be heard but please express it in a polite way ok? Salamat po. @ Henry & Kikay , great blogging guys! PEACE.

  30. Henry says:

I think Ms. Kikay here is my internet love team. I respect her and yet she dumps me with all of her aggressiveness. It is like courting a Lesbian lawyer. I just love what we just did to death.

Anyway, nice blogging with you Kikay. I hope we could meet in real life, have some coffee and spend our time talking and discussing everything while seeing the sun go down. =)

    And @ everyone,
I, and probably for the behalf of Ms. Kikay, would like to apologize for bringing up an irrelevant discussion here. You may continue posting your opinions on Guico. Thank you.

  31. lizzie says:

  33. monique menorca says:

    Great blogging everybody.

Sa election na ito dumanas that I was called in different names hahaha interesting, di pa ako kandidato ha?

Oh well, sabi nga nila goood or bad publicity, publicity pa din.

LOL.

  35. kikay says:

Sometimes my ideas are weird, liberal, conservative, judgemental or opinionated . I am incline to assess things or events with stupidity and act like a moron. I post with tenacity and agressiveness to invite attention or to redicule and writing shit that is sarcastic, purposely disparaging and just mean .That’s how I got the attention of Henry.
Henry, I am not pretty sure if I got into your nerve but I just deduce that from your scolding about civility in using the internet as a tool of communication .Your statement speaks for itself.
Yes Henry,it is possible we could have a dinner date in a romantic setting and I will pay for the food, I insist. To those I offended unintentionally, my apology.
To Henry, Monique and Lizzie I hope this blogging ends in a happy closure.Merci beaucoup !!!

  36. Henry says:

    Kikay,

You look educated and your words and sentences are too profound to ridicule one’s senses. In my honest opinion, you’re better of writing a law than to be an adversary at everyone disagreeing with your point. Just sayin’.

    Anyway, nice blogging with you.

  37. monique menorca says:

@ Kikay, your opinion is highly valued, but I always appreciate an intelligent and polite opinion.

No need to apologise just like what I have said everything which had been written and said were done because of our great love for our country and that nationalism made us found each other in this blog.

You will always have my respect for you are a very down to earth person and you are indeed an admirable woman who has great courage and humility to take responsibility for your words and actions.

It’s a pleasure meeting such an admirable woman like you Ms. Kikay.

In our journey in life we always learn new things and sometimes we learn it in a very unexpected way and we meet new friends who could be great company once given a chance.

    No harm done. Apology accepted.

    God bless Kikay.

  38. glow says:

don’t judge my cousin. he is not a book. lol

  39. Henry says:

And another blog poster who wants to kid the post in a funny way.

So glow, what is it you want to prove with what you say?

  40. monique menorca says:

There are times when we read things which have double meaning, but if we only think about it, it’s not really what the words which are written which has double meaning but the writer’s pattern of thoughts & identity.

There is always a saying ” What you write, that is you, what you do , that is you & what say, that is you”.

Glow you really glow but with confusion.

Please let me know if it’s a punchline because I just don’t get it.

I haven’t seen a single person happy to be judged, I can’t comprehend how Glow could be happy when other people judge him or her ( sorry glow I don’t know whether u r male or female).

  41. Henry says:

    It’s a punchline, trust me.

    A typical Pinoy comedian.

  42. Henry says:

    @monique

    Nice analysis.

Now glow, I suggest you redo your punchline, have Vice Ganda review it, and post it here for us critics to give our point of views on it.

    Thanks.

  43. lizzie says:

ang haba ng hair ni kikay!!!!!

  44. monique menorca says:

Mega ganda to the max !

  48. Henry says:

    Monique,

I think this blog will not have its toast still the election time. Let’s wait first for the results of the election.

But I have a big confidence on Guico’s side. He’ll win and all doubts and hearsay will be invalidated.

    Kikay,

I love you…r fake absurdity being a blogger.

  49. monique menorca says:

@ Henry I didn’t get the last part of your message, what do you mean?

  50. Henry says:

    Monique,

I meant that I am pretty confident about Guico winning the senatorial race and everything negative about him will be shattered into pieces!
