At age 29, Jinggoy Estrada was elected as the Vice-Mayor of San Juan City and became the youngest elected-local chief executive in the entire nation. During his term he took up Bachelor of Laws for four years at the Lyceum University. Jinggoy Estrada was mayor of San Juan from 1992 until 2001. It was also during his office that San Juan gained the reputation of being one of the most progressive municipalities and the Most Peaceful Municipality in the Philippines.
Jinggoy Estrada ran for senator in 2004 under the name “Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada” (after his father, Jose M. Ejercito, who is better known as “Joseph Ejercito Estrada”). In May 2004, he was elected as Senator and dubbed as “Anak ng Masa,” a chance for him to continue the pro-poor programs that his father has started. His term is set to expire in 2010.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is the Executive vice-president of the Philippines political party, Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), organized by his father. He is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources. He is into sports, and is a member of the BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
Jinggoy Estrada is co-accused in the plunder case against his father. He has been charged of conspiring with his father in acquisition of ill-gotten wealth from jueteng; in the division of the tobacco excise tax and in receiving commission and kickbacks from the purchase by the Social Security System and Government Service Insurance System of Belle Corporation shares and other illegal sources. According to the testimony of impeachment trial witness Emma Lim, he accepted jueteng money. On August 15, 2007, the Supreme Court upheld the Sandiganbayan to grant bail the younger Estrada to post bail.

Mindanao group backs Bello’s bid
A MULTI-SECTORAL group in Mindanao said Tuesday it is endorsing the senatorial bid of former Justice Secretary Silvestre Belo III, saying he is in a good position to contribute to peace there.
“It is time we had a senator who truly understands the complexities of peace-building in Mindanao, and we are happy to strongly endorse fellow Mindanawon, justice and peace advocate Bebot Bello for senator in 2010,” Kusong [Strong] Mindanao said in a statement.
“Bello can contribute to a more meaningful discourse in the formulation of a national peace policy bill that would institutionalize the peace process to include the creation of a Permanent Peace Commission,” said Eliseo Mercado Jr., a priest and head of the group.
He said Bello was his comrade in BAYAN Mindanao during the Marcos regime.
Mercado said Bello, former head of the government panel negotiating peace with the communists under President Fidel Ramos, had proposed the inclusion of all stakeholders in the peace process. He believed that peace-building should not only be between the government and rebel forces but should involve all affected sectors.
Bello, an activist against Martial Law and human rights violations, was himself a victim of injustice during the martial law years and was jailed for offenses that had not been proven, Mercado said.

300,000 boto ipinangako kay Bello
(Jun Tadios)
Juan Ponce Enrile at Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
Ang grupo naman ng Kusog Mindanao, pinakamalaking multi-sectoral gatherings ng stakeholders sa southern region ay inendorso si Bello.
