In 2007, Joseph Erap Estrada was found guilty of plunder and sentenced to reclusion perpetua, but was later granted a pardon by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

I understand why people vote for this man. Many people in the Philipines are under-educated. He has been in the screens as a hero and so some people believe he is so. What I do not understand is the man himself, why he believes he can be a president. I don’t even believe he understands the meaning of the word - the duties and obligations that come with the title. Zianne, I’ve just read your comments. Wake up man! Estrada is corrupt through and through and so was Marcos. This is 2010 politics. The country needs someone who can lead the people to a better future, out of poverty. Marcos was a dictator and a corrupt one. The crazy thing about it is that his wife and children are back, or still are, in there. If I was a cynical one, I would suspect that’s the reason these corrupt politicians do not do much in improving the country’s education standards and making education accessible to all its citizens (I mean all - that includes the poor!), so that many citizens will carry on being the way they are, ignorant!, and oblivious, to what they (the corrupt politicians) are really up to. Thank God, not everyone thinks like you!!!
