Bayani Fernando (born July 25, 1946) is the current Secretary of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). He concurrently holds the position of director of the Department of Public Works and Highways for the National Capital Region.

On January 4, 2008, Bayani Fernando announced that he would be running for the presidency in the 2010 elections. Bayani Fernando has hinted that he has gathered the funds and logistics required for a nationwide campaign, and is intent on running for the presidency with or without the support of his party, Lakas-CMD. As of September 16, 2009, Lakas-CMD has chosen Gilbert “Gibo” C. Teodoro to represent their party for the presidency. Bayani Fernando “reiterated that he is keeping his options open and may possibly run as an independent candidate or bolt out of the party.”

A former Marikina City Mayor and currently holds the position of MMDA Chairman, will you vote for Bayani Fernando for President on this upcoming 2010 Philippines presidential election?

Mr. Fernando, please explain how many people you added to the plantilla of MMDA? How many traffic enforcers are working and productive and how many are just waiting for motorists to victimize?

Please explain also how much did MMDA spend on those pink fences and footbridges.

Please explain why you have to close down intersections and put U-turns causing more traffic chaos.

Do you have any idea at all what you have done Mr. Fernando?

  20. BEBOT BELLO III FOR SENADOR says:

    Mindanao group backs Bello’s bid

A MULTI-SECTORAL group in Mindanao said Tuesday it is endorsing the senatorial bid of former Justice Secretary Silvestre Belo III, saying he is in a good position to contribute to peace there.

“It is time we had a senator who truly understands the complexities of peace-building in Mindanao, and we are happy to strongly endorse fellow Mindanawon, justice and peace advocate Bebot Bello for senator in 2010,” Kusong [Strong] Mindanao said in a statement.

“Bello can contribute to a more meaningful discourse in the formulation of a national peace policy bill that would institutionalize the peace process to include the creation of a Permanent Peace Commission,” said Eliseo Mercado Jr., a priest and head of the group.

He said Bello was his comrade in BAYAN Mindanao during the Marcos regime.

Mercado said Bello, former head of the government panel negotiating peace with the communists under President Fidel Ramos, had proposed the inclusion of all stakeholders in the peace process. He believed that peace-building should not only be between the government and rebel forces but should involve all affected sectors.

Bello, an activist against Martial Law and human rights violations, was himself a victim of injustice during the martial law years and was jailed for offenses that had not been proven, Mercado said.

  21. mikeemikes says:

Yes we deserve the good service of this good man, Mr. Fernando!

  22. mikeemikes says:

Also, a lot may be against his projects for cleanliness and improvement of our environment, as it is very visible to our roads most specially, but he is just doing his work. “Trabaho lang, walang personalan” That’s what we need today. A person who is not afraid to serve; it’s for our welfare anyway.
